Make Your Fitness Story A Success Story

Anyone else breastfeeding? What/how much do you eat?

I'm due to have a baby in three weeks (or any day now, which would be TOTALLY nice! I'm ready to be the sole occupant of my body again!). I need SERIOUS help with figuring out an eating plan that lets me eat ENOUGH but also lose weight at the same time. This is my third baby. My first two, I have not been able to lose a SINGLE pound while BFing. I think I just eat too much because, you know, everyone says you're supposed to eat extra while you're BFing. Whatever. I don't believe that anymore. All that info has done for me so far is make me GAIN weight. I have 40 lbs to lose (after Baby is born) to get to my weight goal, and I really don't want to wait until this baby is a year old and weaned to start losing weight.

Obviously, I'm not going to start dieting in the first month or two. I have to recover from the delivery and get my milk supply established, etc. But after that, where should I start? I AM planning on getting the SuperFit Mama book since it has some meal plans.

Just wondering if there's anyone else in the same boat as me who wants to team up and cheer each other on :) I found a dress I want DREADFULLY, but I refuse to buy it in my current size, so I'm going to use it as incentive to lose at least one dress size! But I'd love to find a friend too to compare menu plans with and encourage each other. I really have NOT figured out HOW to lose weight, so that's where I'm stuck.

After having my first baby, I realized after 6 months of NOT losing weight, that I was eating too much at each meal, and having lots of granola bars/crackers as snacks in between. So, what I started doing after that realization was cut down on the portions for my main meals and fit in more protein(hard boiled eggs/nuts/slices of turkey meat), fruit, and lots of veggies, and the weight FINALLY started declining. I hope this was helpful!

Thanks, Amanda!

Yeah, that's kind of what I'm thinking: rely on fruits and veggies and SMALL servings of protein for snacks in between meals ('cuz I DO get ravenous in between meals), and really watch the carbs.

Good luck! I'm going to have my second this July, and I'm already trying to gear up for it!

Congratulations on # 2! It is DEFINITELY better to get geared up WHILE you're prego than to wait 'til after the baby comes. I ate SO much better my second pregnancy than I had my first, and the difference in the pregnancy and recovery was night and day! I was back in my pre-preg jeans by my 6-week checkup : ) Well, my pre-second-preg jeans. I still hadn't lost the baby weight from my first pregnancy...

Hey, now that you're a month or so post partum, I was wondering how you're doing with your eating plan? I have some friends that are so crazy about losing weight that they hardly eat anything, and then they're complaining about not having enough breast milk for they're baby. What are you doing right now? How do you know that you're eating enough for yourself and baby, but are still losing weight? Like I sai before, I only figured out how to eat while breastfeeding and lose the last ten lbs I had, but that was months after I had my baby. I'm due for my second early July and I need a plan. On your other post, you sound like your doing well with exercise..... You are my hero! I've been doing light free weights and cardio, so I'm doing well with exercise during my pregnancy. Oh, I'm talkin yor ear off... What do you think about what I've said?
