• Aim to eat a piece of fruit or a vegetable at each meal. Give yourself bonus points for eating both!
• Pre-wash and cut your produce and then place it at the front of a refrigerator shelf, ideally one that’s at eye-level. This way you can easily grab a healthy snack when you’re hungry. If you’re on the go, pack some fruits or veggies in plastic baggies or containers to take with you.
• Try to eat a dark green, leafy side salad with baby tomatoes and raw broccoli at lunch or dinner.
• View fruits and veggies as natural medicines that can heal and prevent illness, not only for you but for your children.
If possible, go organic. Research from the British Journal of Nutrition found that eating at least 90 percent organic dairy
and meat products may result in breast milk with higher levels of conjugated linoleic acid (CLA), which experts believe
may boost the baby’s immune system and help ward off heart disease, cancer, and diabetes well into adulthood.
